Abstract

Digital health encompasses a wide variety of digital health technologies including health information technology, wearable medical devices and telehealth. It uses the power of digital technologies, to achieve healthcare goals. Benefits of digital health technologies include improved patient health outcomes through personalised treatment plans, increased operational efficiency at hospitals and improved diagnoses through machine learning algorithms. Artificial intelligence is becoming increasingly important in the field of digital health. Digital health innovations use technology to manage illnesses, promote wellness and improve patient satisfaction. These tools include health tools, programs and medical applications used in computers, smartphones and tablets which allow people to track their own wellness and make healthcare much easier. Digital innovations such as digital diagnostics with the use of artificial intelligence will significantly improve the quality of healthcare.

Keywords: Digital health innovations, digital health technology, artificial intelligence

Introduction

Digital health innovations use modern technology to improve medical care. Digital health technology (DHT) has now become an essential part of the delivery of health services.  DHT has the potential to revolutionize the diagnostic support, monitoring and intervention for several health-related problems. DHT has also facilitated the equitable distribution of global health resources. Through digital health innovations, doctors have instant access to patient's medical history which helps in faster diagnosis and management. Digital technology is increasingly adopted in primary healthcare services to improve service delivery [1]. The emergence of digital health technologies will decrease the disparities in health care by monitoring disease at the point of care in all patients [2]. DHT has now become a cornerstone of modern healthcare by significantly improving quality and safety across clinical practice [3]. Digital health innovations have emerged as a transformative force for managing the challenges in the field of healthcare [4]. Technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), mobile health applications and big data analytics have been widely used to support disease surveillance and improve clinical decision making [5].

Artificial Intelligence Technologies for Precision Medicine

Precision medicine aims to deliver healthcare interventions according to the unique biological and clinical characteristics of each patient. AI technologies especially machine learning and deep learning, enable rapid analysis of complex biomedical datasets, supporting individualized care [6]. The rapid advancement of artificial intelligence driven diagnostics and health technologies are stimulating a shift toward personalized medicine, with interventions tailored to individual patient profiles [7]. The application of machine learning, generative AI and large language models can lead to discoveries aimed at improving clinical decision making and health care delivery [8].

Artificial Intelligence-Powered Chatbots

AI-powered chatbots have shown promise in patient education, symptom assessment and clinical decision-making. Using artificial intelligence in chatbots, for chronic illnesses, has become increasingly prevalent. The integration of artificial intelligence in healthcare, through hybrid chatbots is enhancing service delivery, patient engagement and clinical outcomes in the field of healthcare. By combining AI with human input, these chatbots provide intelligent, personalized interactions in diagnostics and chronic disease management. Artificial intelligence-powered chatbots are widely used for patient education in developed and developing countries [9]. The AI-powered chatbots meet the growing demand for supportive healthcare applications. They are effective and user-friendly in handling chronic diseases [10].  Artificial intelligence based chatbots can offer personalized health promotion interventions. Several studies demonstrated the high efficacy of AI chatbots in promoting healthy lifestyles [11].

Digital Health Innovations and Value Based Healthcare

Value-Based Health Care (VBHC) is an important healthcare paradigm that aims at maximizing health outcomes compared to the cost of care delivered [12]. Innovative framework like value-based health care is necessary to improve performance of the health system and to offer quality care for all [13]. The health care industry is currently having a shift towards value-based health care. Digital health innovations have a significant role in advancing VBHC. Digital platforms can create a health care system that provides high-quality, and patient-centered care [14].

Mobile Health Applications

The digital health innovations through mobile applications transform smartphones into personal health hubs and empower users through real-time vital tracking and artificial intelligence-driven health insights. By directly linking patients with clinical teams, these digital health innovation tools make healthcare highly personalized and accessible from home. Mobile health, particularly apps and wearables are valuable tools for shaping healthy habits from young age. They are easy to use and are able to monitor multiple health variables simultaneously. These digital health innovations offer opportunities for personalization and they support in health behavior change [15]. Smartphone apps are increasingly recognized for their potential to promote physical activity. Continued app use help to increase and maintain physical activity levels [16].

Conclusion

Digital health technology has increased the efficiency of disease prevention, diagnosis and treatment. Digital health innovations offer new healthcare models with increased efficiency. The global digital health revolution is making healthcare faster and easier for everyone. Digital health technologies including mobile health applications and AI-driven support systems, offer transformative potential for improving healthcare. AI applications demonstrate high diagnostic performance across modalities. Overall, AI integration in medical field shows potential for enhancing early detection and personalized management. Digital health innovations have been recognized as a key solution which will help countries to achieve the sustainable development goals. This will elevate the healthcare standards and lead to more efficient global healthcare system.
